The Ann Arbor Pipes and Drums was formed in 1993 and draws its members from lower Michigan and Northern Ohio. The band has been competing at Highland Games all over the Midwestern United States and in Ontario Canada since 1995. The band made it's jump into grade IV competition in 1997 and finally into grade III in 2007.

Ambitious fund-raising efforts enabled the band to travel to Glasgow, Scotland, to compete in the World Pipe Band Championships in August, 1997. This is the premier event of the pipe band world and, representing Michigan and the United States, the band was rated 16th in its grade.
